  1. My right is Freedom of Assembly.

  2. To exercise this right is to have the individual right to come together with other individuals and express, promote, pursue, and defend common interests. A trade union is a way to exercise this right.

  3. The limitations on this right is that the people who want to organized a sit in, for example, can have meetings and they have the right to assembly as long as its nonviolent.

  4. These limitations exist because it would cause riots and a whole bunch of problems if they didn't exist.

  5. If I had to give up this right, in return I would want a compromise for what i was assembleling for, like social security or a fairer society.

Inconvenient Truth- fact 5

Fact: When the rays of the sun hit the Earth and it hits an ice cap, more than 90% of it was reflected but as the water is melting, more than 90% of the heat of the rays is absorbed by the water, making the planet warmer.

Inconvenient Truth- fact 4

Fact: Lake Chad, one of the largest lakes in the world, has now dried up to almost nothing due to global warming.

Inconvenient Truth- fact 3

Fact: When the southern hemisphere of the Earth is facing the sun during fall and winter, the CO2 level is higher than during the spring and summer when the northern hemisphere is facing the sun.

SOURCE 7: http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/
  • The source is the Earth System Research Laboratory.
  • The credentials of the source are the U.S. Department of Commerce and NOAA Research (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association).
  • The source is credible because it is checked by their department many times before it is published and its information is very accurate and tested by their researchers.
  • The source says that on the graph, it shows that the level of carbon dioxide has increased by more than 2 million parts per year.
  • I believe the source kind of because it does give proof about what it is talking about.

SOURCE 8: http://co2now.org/

  • The source is "CO2 Now."
  • The source's credentials are University of Victoria and International Polar Year (IPY) Joint Committee.
  • The source is credible because it shows its credentials and who writes the articles and facts.
  • The source says that global warming is mainly the result of CO2 levels rising in the Earth's atmosphere. Both atmospheric CO2 and climate change are accelerating.
  • I don't know if I believe the source because it shows a graph as well from the Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii but it looks different than the one from the previous source.

SOURCE 9: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/24/science/earth/24brfs-GASESINATMOS_BRF.html

  • The source is The New York Times.
  • The source's credentials is NOAA.
  • The source is credible because it gives credentials and the author's name who wrote the article.
  • The source says that carbon dioxide is continuonly rising at an accelerating pace. After a decade of stability, even other heat-trapping gases, like methane, rose as well. NOAA says that the main reason why the carbon dioxide level reached up to 385 parts per million last year was because of the burning of fossil fuel.
  • I believe the source because this is also what NOAA said in the first source that I looked up for this fact so it must be true.

Inconvenient Truth- fact 2

Fact: Greenhouse gases keep in the sun's radiation waves in the Earth, warming the planet.

SOURCE 4: http://www.eia.doe.gov/bookshelf/brochures/greenhouse/Chapter1.htm

  • The source is EIA (Energy Information Administration).
  • The source's credentials are the US Government.
  • This is a credible source because it gives the original source where it go the main information from and it is updated every year.
  • The source says that the greenhouse gases allow sunlight to enter the atmosphere freely. When the sunlight hit the Earth's surface, it is re-radiated back towards space as infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases absorb this infrared radiation and trap the heat in the atmosphere.
  • Yes, I believe the source because it is a credible source and it supports its explanations of the greenhouse gases.

SOURCE 5: http://www.umich.edu/~gs265/society/greenhouse.htm

  • The source is the Greenhouse Gases And Society by Nick Hopwood and Jordan Cohen.
  • The credentials are the World Book Encyclopedia, US Government of State, and the Global Environment.
  • The source is sort of credible because it gives primary sources where it got some information from but it doesn't give the profession or where the author went to university.
  • The source says that the shorter wavelength radiations from the sun passes through Earth's atmosphere, then it is absorbed by the Earth's surface, causing it to warm. Part of the absorbed energy is re-radiated back to the atmosphere as long wave infrared radiation. The greenhouse gases selectively transmit the infrared waves, trapping some and allowing some to pass through into space. The greenhouse gases absorb these waves and reemits the waves downward, causing the lower atmosphere to warm.
  • I believe the source because it explains the process well.

SOURCE 6: http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/emissions/index.html

  • The source is the US EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency).
  • Its credentials is the U.S. government.
  • This source is credible because it is updated frequently by the US EPA.
  • The source says the gases that trap heat in the atmosphere are often called greenhouse gases. Some gases like carbon dioxide happen naturally and are emitted to the atmosphere through natural processes and human activity. Other greenhouse gases like fluorinated gases are created and emitted solely through human activity.
  • I believe the source because it makes sense on what it is explaining.

Inconvenient Truth- fact 1

Fact: The radiation waves from the sun are absorbed by Earth and causes it to warm up. Then the radiation is re-radiated out of Earth as infrared waves.

SOURCE 1: http://science.hq.nasa.gov/kids/imagers/ems/infrared.html

  • The source is Ruth Netting, official for National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
  • The source's credentials are NASA.
  • The source is very credible because scientists wrote it and officials, like Ruth Netting constantly proofread it and update it.
  • The source says that the long infrared waves are thermal, so we experience them in the form of heat from a fire or the sun. The short infrared waves are not hot at all, we can't even feel them.
  • Yes, I believe the source because it is very credible and it backs up its information with proof that they have researched.

SOURCE 2: http://oceanworld.tamu.edu/resources/oceanography-book/radiationbalance.htm

  • The source is Robert Stewart.
  • The source's credentials are Texas A&M University.
  • The source is very credible because it is an online book written by an experienced author.
  • The source says that 45% of the heat that warms the atmosphere is radiated to space and 55% of the heat that warms the atmosphere is quickly re-radiated radiated back to the Earth. This warms te Earth and the lower atmosphere.
  • I believe the source because it is saying that without greenhouse gases, the planet wouldn't be suitable for life, which is true because we can't live without water vapor, carbon dioxide, methan, ozone, and nitrous oxide.

SOURCE 3: http://www.tech-faq.com/infrared.shtml

  • The source is Friedrich Nietzsche.
  • This source's credentials are TechFAQ.
  • This source isn't very credible because it doesn't say where the writer went to university or how far he got in his profession.
  • The source says that infrared waves can either be visible or in the form of microwaves. Visible infrared waves are very short and can be seen as either red or violet. The longer infrared waves, which are closer to microwaves, give off radiation in the form of heat.
  • I believe the source because it is saying basically what the other two sources are saying and it makes sense because the sun's infrared waves are thermal and give off radiation in the form off heat which is why people get sunburned, for example, when they lay out too much in the sun.
